Party chief’s visit to Indonesia paves the way for new bilateral milestones

-Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse will pay a state visit to Indonesia, an official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat, and an official visit to Singapore from Sunday to Thursday.

In an interview with VOV, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong highlighted the visit as the start of a series of events celebrating 70 years of Vietnam-Indonesia diplomatic relations. Leaders of both countries will discuss upgrading their strategic partnership and raising two-way trade turnover to 18 billion by 2028, according to Ambassador Thong.“Bilateral trade exceeded 16 billion USD last year, and there is still significant room for growth. With Indonesia’s population of 270 million and Vietnam’s 100 million, both markets present substantial opportunities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir emphasized the importance of cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. He said Vietnam-Indonesia relations could serve as a global model of mutual respect, solidarity, and shared vision.
